Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision.I have the ability to perform the common Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic tasks including working from specifications and work orders to install, repair and maintain commercial or industrial type air conditioning and cooling systems. I can perform preventative maintenance; Repair and replace worn or defective parts. I have basic knowledge of industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in addition to residential systems. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Screen OutAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Trouble Shooting PHYSICAL EFFORT-Physical requirements include prolonged standing, moderate walking, repeated bending, climbing, overhead work, working in cramped positions, lifting, pulling and pushing weights up to 100 pounds. Good vision(corrected or uncorrected) and good hearing (with or without a hearing aid) required. Must wear respirator when applying cleaning solvents to cooling tower. WORKING CONDITIONS-Works inside and outside, subject to rapid changes in temperature due to nature of work. Hazards include danger from gas fumes, falls, electric shock and burns, cuts and bruises.
