Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Requirement for Equipment Specialist:
A. Education:
Undergraduate Education (Major Study-any field of study in an accredited college or university). (Note:
You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR B. Education:
Graduate Education (Major Study-fields related to the position to be filled). (Note:
You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C.
Experience:
1) Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment; 2) Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements; 3) Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements; 4) Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders; 5) Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met; or 6) Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes:
1) Analyzing maintenance, repair, or equipment operations to determine methods of improvement; 2) Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare part requirements; 3) Examining equipment and contracts to determine if specifications are met; and 4) Recommending maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures for equipment to maintain operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as:
Facilities Management or Industrial Management. (Note:

Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note:

Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
