Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Sheet Metal Mechanic without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Sheet Metal Mechanic duties which includes determining the proper techniques, materials, machines, and parts that are required for repairs or maintenance of sheet metal. I can interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and work orders to perform maintenance or repairs to metal; weld and cut using oxygen and acetylene welding; perform repairs, maintenance and modification on sheet metal; and perform vehicle and forklift operation. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Works from ladders, scaffolding, rooftops and platforms, in tiring and uncomfortable positions, or where parts or assemblies are in hard to reach places. Stands, stoops, bends, kneels, and climbs. Lifts items weighing up to 60 pounds. Working Conditions:
Works both inside, in well heated, lighted, and ventilated areas, and outside in varied weather, hot, cold and wet. Exposed to dirt, dust, grease, fumes, and noise and asbestos, and the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, scrapes, electrical shock, and falls from ladders, scaffolds, lifting equipment, rooftops, and etc. Wears protective clothing and equipment when required.
